Overview

Daitona Carter created her own global strategy internship when she could not find an APAC MBA internship focused on her strongest interest and skill: global strategy.

What began as a self-directed, real-world learning experience developed into multiple business opportunities, hundreds of customers, international partnerships, consulting relationships, entertainment projects, and technology initiatives. The work crossed entertainment, technology, education, marketing, international business, community building, and strategic development—with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region and the connection between Korean and American markets.

Organization 1 — kMusic / Global Fan Community

A global community and entertainment platform centered on personalized concert and tour experiences within the Korean music space, including K-pop, Korean hip-hop, Korean R&B, and Korean rock.

  • Personalized concert and tour experiences
  • kMusic promotion
  • kInfluencer partnerships
  • Local business partnerships
  • International fan engagement and community development
  • Artist-focused promotional activities
  • Concert-related merchandise

As demand increased, an in-house K-pop clothing and concert-merchandise line was developed to support the community and its activities. Countries represented included: United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia, United Kingdom, France, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Philippines.

Organization 2 — Global kMusic Fan Community

An intimate global community of loyal and registered kMusic fans to artists like BTS, NCT127, Twice, Jay Park, DAY6, EXO, MONSTA X, SIK-K, and others. The core model was built on agency and giving back.

  • Philanthropic activities within the K-pop community in over 20 countries
  • Instagram account hosted weekly/monthly giveaways giving away VIP kpop tickets and fan merch (upward value)
  • Volunteer fan group that recorded experiences in exchange for video content
  • Video content used to curate social media sites and build AI/smart glasses project

A sister brand operated as a travel agency and concierge service that helped diehard fans score their tickets. Legal patch-ins offered payment plans via third parties (partnership arrangement) generating revenue as a reseller.

The holding company held the copyright for BTS designs fan shirts and own merchandise. In 2020, the holding company was in talks with the CEO of a Korean crypto company while also working on their own TV/film production company to make diverse K-dramas (similar concept to Katseye but for television).

Organization 3 — Korea–U.S. Entertainment & Business Consulting

Consulting and business-development work for music managers, Grammy-nominated producers, and platinum recording artists seeking opportunities in South Korea.

  • Korean market research
  • Business leads and opportunity development
  • Communication with South Korean entertainment professionals
  • Acting as a booking agent
  • Korea–U.S. business development
  • Investment in Korean–American ventures
  • Entertainment strategy
  • Artist campaigns
  • Global release scheduling
  • Promotional strategy
  • Social media
  • Press and publicity
  • Marketing
  • Touring and tour support

She also served as acting manager for two Korean-American entertainers, coordinating campaigns across music releases, promotion, social media, press, marketing, touring, and international release schedules.

Organization 4 — Fan Engagement & Activation Technology

A developing technology initiative focused on fan engagement and activation technologies. The project represented the technology and innovation side of the Global Strategy work and was in the developmental stage.

Built from volunteer-generated video content from fan experiences, curating social media sites and developing smart glasses/AI technology integration for fan engagement.

APAC Strategy Experiment

"I could not find an APAC MBA internship that focused on my interest and strongest skill, 'global strategy', so I had to create one."

The result was a practical, self-directed experience conducted in real time rather than solely through classroom study. It produced unexpected business opportunities, customers, international relationships, and exposure to the Korean entertainment and business ecosystem.

By January 2020, the first two businesses were intended to transition toward community operation and increasingly automated systems, allowing Carter to continue concentrating on networking, strategic opportunities, and business development within the Asia-Pacific region.

Korea / South Korea

The work included developing Korean-language capability through self-directed study and technology-assisted learning. Archived professional materials included Korean-language communication describing her work as an American entrepreneur and consultant working across entertainment, technology, education, and Korean business opportunities—including an AI technology startup and consulting services connecting global clients with Korean business opportunities.
